Tales Worth Telling - Local Voices from the Worth Valley

Tales Worth Telling - Local Stories from West Yorkshire

Tales Worth Telling represents an opportunity to reflect the distinctiveness of the community and character of the Worth Valley through the voices of those who live there. The Worth Valley encompasses many places of rugged natural beauty and historical interest, from the rural Pennine villages and hamlets of Oxenhope, Oldfield and Stanbury, the historical significance of Haworth, Oakworth, to the culturally cosmopolitan Keighley.

The importance of storytelling should never be overlooked, it fulfils the human need to cast our experiences in narrative form, and through it the sense of community is strengthened and maintained through stories that connect the present with the past and the future.

This culturally rich area of West Yorkshire is something that should be recorded and celebrated. This ongoing project will result in a series of recorded documents of local people recalling aspects of local life, contemporary tales, and material/work that reflects the creative and cultural wealth of the region.

About Tales Worth Telling
